Brockenhurst and Sway Day Centre – The Friday Club
Once a week a group of elderly, frail residents of Brockenhurst and Sway meet on Friday between 10.00 and 15.00 in the village hall for a day of social interaction, games, quizzes, exercise, refreshments and a home-cooked lunch.
About twice a month, we arrange visiting speakers to talk about a whole range of topics of interest to the group. We also arrange off-site visits such as afternoon tea in a local garden centre and an annual boat trip on Southampton Water.
Minibus Transport to and from the village hall and home is provided for any members who need it.
The organisation has a paid Manager who is assisted by a team of enthusiastic, trained volunteers, who work in shifts covering as many sessions as they are able. A morning or afternoon twice a month is the norm but we can accommodate volunteers who are able to help more or less frequently.
