Building design awards

From traditional thatched cottages to historic houses and more contemporary designs, the New Forest National Park is renowned for the character of its buildings.

Our Building Design Awards celebrate high quality development and recognise the contribution excellent design makes to the built environment of the National Park.

Nominations are accepted for schemes completed over the last three years that enhance or protect the built environment of the National Park in the following categories:

  • Best residential scheme (Household extensions, new dwellings, conversions to residential)
  • Non-residential scheme (Industrial Units, boat sheds, outbuildings not in residential use)
  • Best conservation project (Extensions to a Listed Building, restoration of a Listed Building, repair of a Building at Risk).

The closing date for nominations this year is 31 December 2018. Nominations will then be considered by a panel made up of members of the National Park Authority’s Planning Committee. We are looking to make one main award in each category, with the awards being presented at the Authority meeting on 28 March 2019.
