The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB)
We are a conservation charity which carries out international and UK-based work. In the New Forest, we have a new reserve at Franchises Lodge, comprising 386ha of mixed woodland habitats.
We run regular sessions of practical work (scrub clearance, rhododendron cutting, clearing old fencing, etc). During spring and summer, we look for volunteers to help us conduct a variety of wildlife surveys. We also have volunteer rangers that walk around the site helping us to spot issues we might have missed.
On the other hand, Cameron's Cottage offers an opportunity for those who wish to be involved in educational activities with young people. Creating life-changing experiences and creating a solid connection to the natural world from a young age.
We need volunteers with a whole range of skills to help us establish the reserve – surveyors to build up baseline data, work parties to carry out practical management, people engagement volunteers for events and education and admin support to enter species records.
