Hampshire Search and Rescue (HANTSAR) is a voluntary organisation providing 24/7 cover to assist the police to search for vulnerable missing persons.

Set up in 2003, HANTSAR, a registered charity, is one of many (35) Lowland Rescue teams throughout the country which provide professionally trained volunteers to assist the police with searches for at-risk vulnerable missing people (such as children, the elderly or despondent).

Searches are carried out across Hampshire in both urban and rural areas. We are available any time of day or night, whatever the weather, but appreciate not everyone can attend every time.

HANTSAR is staffed entirely by volunteers, both operational members who carry out the searches and support members who provide backup with administration and fundraising activities. Since our formation, we have responded to over 950 requests for assistance by the police.

We receive professional training to the standard required by the police and other search and rescue agencies. This includes developing skills in search techniques, first aid, map reading and other competencies.

We recruit three times per year. Check our website for details. We welcome enquiries from those interested in volunteering as either operational or support members.
