Cycling routes

Cycling is a great way to get around the Forest, see wildlife and discover new places. Please ensure that you cycle on the waymarked cycle routes and linking roads.

To make the most of your time in the Forest, also take a look at the New Forest cycle route map which you can download to help you plan your journey. The New Forest is a working forest so you may also want to check for route closures caused by forestry operations.

You can cycle on public roads, byways open to all traffic, public bridleways, restricted bridleways, and dedicated New Forest cycle routes. You are not permitted to ride over the Open Forest, or on Forestry England tracks which are not dedicated cycle routes. Cycling on public footpaths is also not permitted. Take a look at the New Forest Cycling code for more details.
