500 Years of New Forest Romani Heritage
A new exhibition about the Gypsies of the New Forest which covers 500 years of local history. There will be forty exhibition panels, each showing around 12 to 15 images of Romanies, from the early 19th century to the modern day. We have over 600 such images and a large collection of documents on this subject. Other exhibitors at the event will include local Romani families who will bring artefacts, crafts, models, etc., and the East Boldre Oral History Project which is permanently located in the hall includes eighteen oral histories relating to the Gypsy Compound at East Boldre. Refreshments, a souvenir booklet and activities to engage children will be available.
Entry to the exhibition will be free. If you cannot attend, the exhibition will be at Thorney Hill Community Centre from 1 - 7 June.
