Renovated cottage

Renovated cottage

A quintessential Forest cottage. A fine position on the edge of a green, with hedged enclosure and a tree back-drop.

Historic Building Consultant: Kevin Stubbs. Photos: Kevin Stubbs.

Thatched cottage 1The cottage’s smallest elevation faces toward the road, so it looks very modest.

Thatched cottage 2Long and narrow, the simple roofline and small scale openings define its low key character.

Thatched cottage 3The greyish tone of the water-reed combines with a lime render – both which will weather and help the building to recede into its setting.

Thatched cottage 4The internal layout and interconnecting spaces are kept, whilst the chimney and internal framing are left exposed.
