Dave Dibden

Dave Dibden

Pondhead Community Woodland, Lyndhurst

‘I go out in the woods and it brings back the way ancient ancestors worked and they were doing it for thousands of years – generation after generation doing the same thing before you. You do get that special feeling sometimes as if you are being watched.

‘Every season is different – you are doing all the coppicing in the winter and you’re freezing cold and wet through and I think ‘why am I doing this?’

‘But I can picture myself in the same place in the summer looking at all the flowers coming out – the foxgloves appearing where the light has been let in.’
