Wills’ New Forest
Hi, I’m Wills Aston. I live in The New Forest with my equine friend Murphy and my family. I love to make films about the New Forest, like this one about The Secrets of Bats.
I am a recent Film, TV, and Digital Production graduate, having completed my Masters in 2022 and I’m currently looking for work in the media industry to apply my knowledge. I have over 10 years of experience in producing my own live and recorded work, including a show for local radio on disability. I also have a YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@willsaston624) where I love to make films about the New Forest, fishing and many other ability sports. Here’s a short clip of a film I made on pannage in the New Forest, when pigs are allowed out to roam for acorns.
I have cerebral palsy but that does not stop me from living my life to the full, I view my disability as a positive because as a filmmaker I have a different perspective on the world that we live in and I hope this comes across in my videos.
Before I got into media I considered a number of careers – the first one was to become a gymnast (or a comedian). If you were to ask me, why did I become an editor; simply to make a long story short.
I hope you enjoy this short film on the annual pannage in the New Forest to explain why we let pigs on to the Forest in September. You can also find out more on my YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@willsaston624.
It’s another reminder why if you are visiting the Forest, please follow the New Forest code. Keep your distance from the animals – don’t feed or touch them and please always drive with care.
Thanks for watching!
Wills (and Murphy)
