Travel grant
Our travel grant scheme supports learning outside the classroom for schools in the New Forest and surrounding area. Local schools can claim up to £250 towards the cost of transport to any venue that is a member of the New Forest National Park Educators’ Forum.
We are so lucky to have an incredible array of high-quality outdoor, museum and active learning opportunities in the National Park.
A full list and contact details for each organisation can be found here.
Who can apply?
Schools that are either based within the New Forest National Park or within a 20-mile journey of Lyndhurst. Youth groups and other organised community groups will also be considered, please email education@newforestnpa.gov.uk.
How can we travel?
Coach, train, ferry and taxi travel can all be reimbursed. We’d like to encourage schools looking at sustainable and active travel options.
We are sorry but parking and fuel costs for minibuses or other school/ private vehicles cannot be funded.
How much is available?
£250 or the actual cost of transport if less. One claim per school per year (while funds last).
When is the deadline?
The fund opens at the beginning of each financial year for visits occurring during that financial year. Grants are allocated to eligible schools on a first come, first served basis and the funds scheme closes when all funds are committed.
How to apply
After you have booked your visit with one of the providers listed above, eligible schools should email education@newforestnpa.gov.uk and tell us:
- Name of your school
- Venue you will be visiting
- Date(s) of the visit
- Age range of the pupils who will benefit
- Number of pupils who will benefit (each day)
Successful schools will receive a letter by email including instructions on how to claim after the visit has taken place.
