David and his wife live in the Meon valley, but David was born in Somerset and has lived within Dartmoor National Park.
He has been visiting the New Forest since childhood and is now a regular cyclist and responsible dog walker in the National Park.
He comes to the Authority after a full and varied 30 year career in the Royal Navy. Privileged to have commanded at all levels, he has worked across the full spectrum of Maritime and Joint Operations and has gained a unique insight into Central Government crisis and consequence management (COBR). Latterly he has worked for BAE Systems and is now an independent consultant.
A qualified scuba diving instructor and with a love of the outdoors and nature, David is passionate about conserving our natural flora and fauna and the rural way of life.
