People and Wildlife Ranger
- Do you have a flair for engaging with people about protected wildlife species?
- Are you passionate about encouraging and enabling positive outdoor recreation?
- Are you experienced in managing and motivating a small team?
- Are you highly motivated, innovative and able to respond to the complexities of working with partner organisations, members of the public and volunteers?
In this role, your understanding of people and wildlife will enable you to raise awareness of the importance and sensitivity of protected species in designated sites so that people can enjoy them without causing negative recreational impacts.
You will develop close links with local communities and organise events and activities for a wide range of audiences.
Your past experience of working with partner organisations will help you achieve maximum effectiveness in promoting responsible use of the National Park and identify, improve and promote the use of additional natural green spaces and recreational walking routes as alternatives to designated sites. You will work closely with New Forest District Council to help them deliver their Recreational Mitigation Strategy to address recreational pressures from new residential development on European sites.
Based at our offices in Lymington with some home working but significant time will be spent within the National Park and surrounding boundary of New Forest District Council. This post requires a valid driving licence.
The contract is initially for 3 years with future extensions dependent on funding. Previous applicants need not apply.
