Honor
My name is Honor, I am a outdoors enthusiast with a deep passion for environmental conservation, inspiring and educating young people to get outside more, preserving nature and ensuring a sustainable future for the New Forest.
Favourite things about the New Forest?
One of my favourite things about the New Forest is the sense of peace and connection with nature it provides. The vast landscapes, ancient woodlands, and roaming wildlife create a truly unique environment. I love how the park changes with the seasons, offering something new to appreciate throughout the year. The opportunity to disconnect from the fast pace of life makes it an incredibly special place.
Areas of interest/passion?
I am deeply passionate about conservation, sustainability, and making nature accessible to all. Protecting the environment and ensuring future generations can enjoy it as we do now is something I strongly believe in. I am also passionate about engaging young people with nature and the outdoors, encouraging them to develop an appreciation for the outdoors, raising awareness about climate change, biodiversity, conservation efforts and the numerous benefits the outdoors can bring. I am a believer that you should ‘disconnect to reconnect’.
Favourite place in the New Forest?
It’s difficult to choose just one place, but one of my favourites has to be the ancient woodlands of Rhinefield. The towering trees, winding trails, and abundance of wildlife make it a magical place to explore. Whether it’s walking through Rhinefield or discovering hidden spots away from the crowds, the woodlands have always felt like a place of calm and inspiration for me. What do I want to get from the Youth Board? I want to contribute to the protection and future of the New Forest while working alongside like-minded people who share the same passion. Being part of the Youth Board allows me to have a voice in important environmental decisions, help raise awareness, and inspire others to take action. I also hope to learn from experts, collaborate on meaningful projects, and develop skills that will help me make a positive impact.
My skills that benefit the Youth Board?
With my background in marketing and media communications, I can help amplify the Youth Board’s initiatives by engaging local communities, creating awareness campaigns, and using digital platforms to reach a wider audience. My personal experiences growing up with limited access to outdoor activities have also given me a strong appreciation for accessibility, and I want to use this perspective to ensure more young people can connect with nature. Additionally, my enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork skills allow me to bring fresh ideas and contribute effectively to the board’s projects.
