Derek Tippetts
Derek is a keen amateur photographer who enjoys photographing the incredible variety of scenes that can be found in the New Forest across its woodland, heath, and coastline.
He enjoys walking in the Forest where he has lived for most of his life and bought his first ‘proper’ camera just over 10 years ago.
He enjoys the challenge of wildlife photography, particularly deer and birds but doesn’t restrict himself to any particular category and he regards himself as an opportunist rather than specialist photographer, taking pictures of anything that catches his attention on his Forest walks. In addition to still photography, he also does some video work from time to time.
Derek is also actively involved in woodland conservation and is one of the co-founders of the multi award winning Pondhead Conservation Trust, a registered conservation charity, which is managing and restoring 78 hectares of woodland near Lyndhurst.
