Derek Tipp
Derek was Chair of the New Forest District Council for the year 2021/2022. He is currently the Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Planning. He was born and brought up in the New Forest area and attended Brockenhurst Grammar School. He then went on to obtain an honours degree in chemistry. After a short period in research, he became a science teacher and taught in secondary schools in Southampton for many years.
Following this, Derek and his wife, Andrea, ran their own successful property company. In 1999 he was first elected to the New Forest District Council and has remained a councillor since then, having served on many different committees. He is also a governor at Bartley Junior School. Derek and Andrea have lived at Netley Marsh for the past 33 years. They have three grown-up sons who all live in the New Forest area.
