New Forest Christmas Fair 2014 - new location, more stalls and extra attractions

New Forest Marque chairman Jane Overall picks out her top 11 highlights of this year's New Forest Christmas Fair (6 and 7 December 10am to 4pm). 

The event is at Hoburne Bashley, New Milton, where all-weather parking and extra attractions will make the Fair better than ever.

Getting to the Fair

The easiest way to get to the Fair is to come by bicycle, train, bus or on foot – and those who do will get a free hot drink!

Free park and ride is available from Ballards School (every hour from 11am both days), Bashley Football Club (every hour from 11am Sunday only) and New Milton train station (every two hours from 11.30am both days)

Parking on site is available, including for blue badge holders, but is not unlimited – so please consider the options above first.

The Fair, organised by the New Forest Marque, with over 90 stalls making it the New Forest’s one stop shop for Christmas presents, festive food  and seasonal cheer.

1. Entry is free! With no charge for parking or entry, the Fair is the cheapest family day out you could hope for.

1a. Free hot drink for anyone arriving by bus, train, bicycle or on foot, just claim your voucher on arrival!

2. Father Christmas will be there all weekend - delight your children by bringing them along to meet Santa, for free!

3. Cracking crafts – Struggling to think of anything to buy for that picky relative for Christmas? Then try the wide range of craft stands at the Fair for unique and quirky gifts. Craft stalls include New Forest Marque members Dangly Hearts, Creative Woodcraft, New Forest Aromatics, Cyrils Soap Shed, and more!

4. Hoburne Bashley – the new location means extra benefits for visitors, including all-weather car parking, a pantomime on Sunday at 4pm, and winter storytelling in the woods!

5. The best local produce – Good food makes for a great Christmas, so buying your fodder from the award winning local produce stalls at the Fair is a sure fire route to a successful festive period. There will be food stands in abundance including New Forest Marque members Spice n Easy, Pauline’s Pantry, Beaulieu Chocolate, Lyburn Cheese and Parkside Produce…. And we haven’t forgotten our four legged friends either, with pet treats from Paws Deli.

6. Woodfalls Brass Band is one of the premier brass bands in the South of England, and will be at the Fair playing festive tunes to get us into the Christmas spirit.

7. Tasty mulled wine to keep you warm while you browse the stalls, as well as luxurious hot chocolate and local hot cider.  

8. Activities for the kids – including woodcraft in the woods, activity trails and of course Santa’s wagon rides. 

9. Christmas carols will be sung by a local choir to add to the Christmassy atmosphere.

10. Hot food from local chefs at reasonable prices – what’s not to like! The food marquee will be offering tempting treats to suit any palate, from a hog roast to gourmet grilled toasties to cooked breakfasts to mince pies and cakes.
