It's 08:04 Clear sky, 6°C

St Barbe Museum + Art Gallery’s principal activity is the advancement of education and stimulation of interest in the care of the beauty, history and character of the New Forest and the New Forest’s coast. Our vision remains to be a welcoming cultural hub where everyone can access and participate in inspiring cultural experiences that promote inclusivity, creativity, and a sense of belonging through our learning and creative activities, museum collection and exhibitions.

Young Curators

Our Young Curators Panel is a unique opportunity for young people aged 11-16 to gain vocational experience and develop transferable skills within the arts, culture and heritage sector. But most importantly – it’s a lot of fun! The group meets every Monday at 4pm (during term time) – you have the chance to shape the future of St Barbe and explore our museum and collections after hours.

National Saturday Club

St Barbe’s Craft and Making Saturday Club provides a friendly environment for young makers aged 13–16-years-old to explore their creativity with hands-on activities whilst developing skills they can use every day. Workshops are run by professional tutors and makers.
Club members will explore local Heritage Crafts across the New Forest, with organised visits to local crafts people and businesses as an insight into employment with craft industries.

We encourage Club members to undertake their Bronze Arts Award with support from the tutors. During the year there will be organised visits, a cultural visit to London in November, a Masterclass from an industry expert and an end of year show at Somerset House along with a graduation ceremony to celebrate your achievements. We encourage applications from children eligible for Free School Meals, Pupil Premium and those that are Home Educated, although welcome applications from everyone.
