Our response to Defra consultation on Protected Landscapes
PUBLISHED ON: 12 APRIL 2022The New Forest National Park Authority has responded to the Government’s consultation on the future of protected landscapes – National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
It comes after the Government set out its proposals earlier this year following an independent Landscapes Review published in 2019.
Our new Partnership Plan has five objectives which correspond well with the issues and opportunities identified in the Landscapes Review chaired by Julian Glover and the consultation.
The Plan emphasises the importance of working together for our National Park and is for all the statutory bodies and partners caring for the Forest. It was developed after extensive consultation with partners and communities.
Read the New Forest National Park Authority’s response, which was approved by the Authority at its meeting on 24 March.
It sets out a broadly supportive response, but also highlights the challenges in delivering the Government’s priorities for protected landscapes without adequate finance and resources.
