Lymington and Pennington communities to have more say on planning in their area
PUBLISHED ON: 17 APRIL 2025Residents of Lymington and Pennington are invited to have their say on a draft Neighbourhood Plan which enables people to have more influence on future development in their area.
Neighbourhood Plans are prepared by local communities and set out local planning policies for the area that will be used in determining planning applications.
Lymington Town Council initially started work on its Neighbourhood Plan in 2015 and there have already been several rounds of public consultation to help shape the final draft Plan which has now been published.
The next step is a six-week public consultation on the final draft Neighbourhood Plan.
As the Town Council includes land in both the New Forest National Park and New Forest District Council areas, the two planning authorities have jointly published the draft Neighbourhood Plan for people to give their feedback.
Comments on the draft Neighbourhood Plan are invited by 5pm on Friday 30 May 2025. Comments can be submitted online or sent to policy@newforestnpa.gov.uk.
Paper copies of the draft plan and supporting documents can be viewed at:
- New Forest District Council Office, Appletree Court, Beaulieu Road, Lyndhurst.
- New Forest NPA Office, Lymington Town Hall, Avenue Road, Lymington.
All comments received will be considered by an independent Examiner appointed by the planning authorities. If the Plan is supported by the Examiner, the final stage would be to hold a local referendum where the local community in Lymington and Pennington will be asked whether they support the Neighbourhood Plan.
