On Tuesday 17 March 2026 the New Forest National Park Authority approved the Fawley Neighbourhood Plan for consultation over six weeks. This is a new Neighbourhood Plan for Fawley, affecting both the National Park Authority and New Forest District Council, and will introduce a new set of planning policies that will inform the development of Fawley in the future.
The consultation commenced on 2 April 2026 and was originally scheduled to close on 17 April 2026. However, neighbourhood plans are now required to meet new Basic Conditions introduced by the government through sections 98 and 99 of the Levelling‑up and Regeneration Act 2023. The consultation period has therefore been extended to ensure compliance with the six‑week minimum requirement set out in Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012.
The consultation will now close on Sunday 7 June 2026. All representations submitted between 2 April 2026 and 7 June 2026 will be considered as part of the Regulation 16 consultation.
If you have already submitted a response, there is no need to submit another unless you wish to provide further comments specifically in relation to the Addendum to the Basic Conditions Statement, which is the only new document. This addendum can be found here.
