Independent person vacancies
PUBLISHED ON: 28 SEPTEMBER 2020The New Forest National Park Authority is looking for people to help promote and maintain high standards of conduct amongst its members. The successful candidates will play a key role in standards matters, including the conduct of New Forest National Park Authority board members. The views of an Independent Person are sought and taken into account before the Authority makes a decision on a conduct allegation being investigated.
The role is one required by law and the Independent Person must have the experience and profile to be able to bring an independent and informed perspective to a range of sensitive and complex issues. The successful applicants will need to be demonstrably impartial, informed and able to inspire confidence in their judgement. Excellent communication skills, effective questioning, personal integrity, sound decision making and leadership skills are vital. A commitment to public standards and a wish to serve the local communities within the National Park are all requirements of the role.
The expected time commitment for this role is approx. four to six days per year.
You cannot be appointed as an Independent Person if you are (or have been in the past five years)
(a) a Member, Co-opted Member or officer of the Authority; or
(b) a relative or close friend of a person within category (a) above.
Travel and subsistence expenses payable.
