Meet New Forest Youth Board member Suzi from Lymington.

Favourite thing about / place in the New Forest?

It’s so difficult to narrow down my favourite place in the New Forest – there are too many amazing spots to choose from! I love the mix of different landscapes and ecosystems throughout the National Park, and enjoy exploring the heathland, woodlands and rivers.

What are your areas of interest and passion?

I’m interested in anything to do with the conservation of nature in the National Park. Working for Forestry England, I am most interested and knowledgeable about the management of the New Forest, and the complexities that go along with that. I’m interested in educating more people about restoration and why it is important.

What skills do you have that could benefit the Youth Board?

I think I can benefit the Youth Board by bringing an insight into how the New Forest is managed, and the various conservation and habitat restoration efforts that are taking place across the National Park. Over time, I have built up my knowledge of the ecology of the area, which I would love to share with others. Through my work, I have made links with other organisations and opportunities which I can share with the Youth Board to strengthen our relationships with potential partners.

What do you want to get from being a New Forest Youth Board member? What skills and knowledge would you like to develop?

I am excited to meet other young people who share similar interests and who deeply care for the National Park, and who are committed to protecting this amazing place. I am also keen to learn more about nature engagement and develop my skills in communicating with the public about these topics.
