Guided Birdwatching Walk with Bird Aware Solent

As part of the Great Coastal Birdwatching fortnight and the New Forest Walking Festival, come and join Bird Aware Solent’s friendly rangers to see what wildlife we can spot around Normandy lagoon, Lymington Keyhaven Nature Reserve.

The area is a fantastic place to spot coastal birds particularly waders, ducks, and geese that arrive here for the winter months.

We will learn to identify these birds, talk about their ecology, and learn about how we can help them thrive.

Some of the species we might see include dark-bellied brent geese, wigeon, dunlin, oystercatcher, black-tailed godwit, redshank, turnstone and greenshank.

Bring binoculars if you have them but don’t worry if you don’t, we can supply a few pairs for your use. You can also enjoy views of the birds through the ranger’s telescopes.

  • The walk is around 2 miles long in total and will last up to 2.5 hours at a leisurely pace with regular watching stops.
