Creative Prism Photography Workshop
Using prisms to create abstract nature photography on Saturday 16 MayJoin photographer Alannah Hebbert for a creative workshop exploring how simple tools such as prisms can transform natural scenes into abstract images full of colour, light and texture. Working both indoors and outdoors around Tilefield, you will experiment with reflections, distortion and shallow depth of field to create unusual photographs inspired by the surrounding landscape.
During the session Alannah will introduce aperture priority mode and help you explore how aperture affects focus and background blur. You will then have time to practise with prisms, copper tubes and other simple techniques to create your own abstract nature images. We will finish by sharing images from the back of the camera and discussing a few simple post-processing ideas.
You will need a camera, ideally a DSLR, mirrorless or advanced compact camera. A smartphone can be used but will offer less versatility. A small number of cameras will be available to borrow if needed, please let us know in advance. Prisms, copper tubes and crib sheets will all be provided.
Alannah is a photographer based in Lymington whose work celebrates colour, light and texture, drawing inspiration from both people and the natural world. Her approach to teaching is playful, creative and relaxed, encouraging people to experiment and enjoy the process of photography.
