Countryside workshop: Herb Gardens for Wildlife

Are you looking to start a herb garden from scratch, or encourage more wildlife to an existing patch?
Have you ever wondered how to help a garden thrive in times of flood or drought, using sustainable materials?

In this session, you’ll learn how to design a herb garden with pollinators in mind. We’ll discuss how to choose plants and sustainable materials, and learn how to incorporate native species for wildlife. We’ll also learn about soil types and how to keep on top of weeds without using herbicides.

You’ll then be invited to get hands on with taking cuttings, dividing and harvesting plants. At the end of the session, we’ll enjoy a selection of herbal teas from the garden and learn about the benefits to humans as well as wildlife. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about your own garden design, and to see how we’ve also used some of last year’s plant materials for natural dyes.
