New Forest flavours and maritime heritage come together at Buckler’s Hard

The New Forest Marque brings its Flavours of the New Forest dining evening to the historic Master Builder’s House Hotel on Thursday 19 November, celebrating local producers, seasonal food and the fascinating history of Buckler’s Hard.

Following the success of last year’s sell-out Flavours of the New Forest at Stanwell House, the Marque is delighted to be hosting this event at another beautiful location steeped in history, providing the perfect back drop to fantastic local food and drink.

Guests will enjoy a carefully chosen five-course dinner showcasing ingredients from New Forest Marque producers, alongside a cocktail made with local craft spirits, and locally produced wine.

From The Commoner’s Larder pannage pork and Lyburn Gold artisan cheese to Noble Bee honey and New Forest Ice Cream, the menu will highlight the dedicated people and businesses who produce food and drink in and around the Forest, and the distinctive processes and traditions behind it.

Beyond the plate, the evening will explore the rich maritime history and heritage of Buckler’s Hard and its connection with the wider Forest. Guest speakers will include Mary Montagu-Scott, Founder Chair of the Buckler’s Hard Shipyard Trust and former Director of Buckler’s Hard Maritime Museum, and Chris Garrett, Manager of the Master Builder’s House Hotel, who will both share stories of the area and its fascinating past.

A raffle will also be held during the evening, with proceeds supporting the Buckler’s Hard Shipyard Trust, which works to preserve and bring the area’s shipbuilding heritage and traditional skills to life.

Celebrating the people and produce of the New Forest

The New Forest Marque represents local producers who share a commitment to quality, provenance and the special character of the New Forest. The Flavours evening offers a chance to discover more about the people behind the ingredients, hear their stories and enjoy the food and drink they produce, in a setting steeped in history. Supporting local producers and businesses helps the local economy, and sustains the livelihoods, skills and traditions that are such an important part of the New Forest’s character.

Hilary Harper, Director of the New Forest Marque, said:

‘Nothing gives the New Forest Marque more pleasure than celebrating our wonderful local producers. To be able to do that at Buckler’s Hard, in such a beautiful setting and a place with such an important connection to the history of the New Forest, makes this a particularly exciting collaboration. We’re looking forward to bringing producers, guests and the stories of the Forest together for a really special evening.’
