Getting to know fungi

This walk will teach you how to examine and learn the basics about fungal identification, so a x10 or greater magnification hand lens (magnifier) is advised. You will also learn about their ecology and the vital role that they play in nature.

The walking distance is not very far as there is much stopping, examining and sniffing of the fungal fruiting bodies (mushrooms). These walks are open to anyone who has an interest in fungi but are not foraging walks.

This event starts of Millyford Bridge car park which will be examined first before heading northwards along the track, into the inclosure where pine trees predominate so we will find different species growing there. Then back along the track about half a mile in total. If possible, please try and car share as the car park is slightly small and very popular, especially at weekends.
