Card Making Workshop on 23 May
This relaxed, hands-on workshop introduces collage techniques to create your own greetings cards and small illustrations, inspired by colour, pattern and natural textures. The session begins with a short guided wander just outside the workshop space to notice shapes, colours and textures in the surrounding landscape. These natural influences will then feed into the creative work back in the studio. In this workshop Deborah will guide you through collaging techniques to create your own fun greetings cards and illustrations.
You will learn about colour, composition and pattern and use Deborah’s beautiful hand-printed paper to make your designs. Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned crafter, this workshop will guide you through making some unique cards to take home with you.
You’ll have time to experiment with layering shapes and arranging your designs, creating a small collection of cards or illustrations during the afternoon.
The workshop is led by Deborah Hillyar, a mixed media artist and textile designer with an international background in knitwear design. Her current work focuses on printed paper, illustration and abstract painting, and her work is held in private collections in Australia, Canada, the USA and the UK. Her teaching style is practical, encouraging and supportive, with plenty of space for individual creativity.
No previous experience is needed. Refreshments and cake will be available throughout the workshop.
The price for the workshop is £40 including great coffee and biscuits/cakes during the afternoon.
