Lymington and Pennington Neighbourhood Plan officially adopted following strong public support

The Lymington and Pennington Neighbourhood Plan has been formally adopted by the New Forest National Park Authority after receiving overwhelming support from the local community in a referendum held on 29 January 2026.

An impressive 92.5% of voters backed the plan, with a turnout of 17.1%, demonstrating clear public endorsement for the vision and local planning policies it sets out for the area.

Following this result, the New Forest National Park Authority officially ‘made’ (adopted) the Neighbourhood Plan at its Authority meeting on 26 March 2026. The adoption applies to the parts of Lymington and Pennington parish that fall within the National Park. New Forest District Council adopted the Plan for the area of the parish within their planning jurisdiction in February 2026.

The newly adopted plan now forms part of the statutory development plan for the area, meaning it will play a key role in guiding future planning decisions and shaping sustainable development within the parish of Lymington and Pennington.
