Badgers

Badgers are one of the largest wild mammals in the New Forest. They are known for their social behaviour and are often seen in family groups.

They are active at dawn and dusk, and their setts can be found in the Forest’s woodland areas.

Badgers’ foraging turns over the soil in the Forest, helping to aerate the ground and spread seeds.

The New Forest’s diverse range of habitats including woodland, heathland and grassland, offer shelter and plentiful food for badgers.
