Accessibility

We have tried to make the site accessible to all users. The features of the website are listed below. However, if you do have any problems, or would like to make any suggestions to help us improve the accessibility of the site please let us know.

The accessibility guidelines we follow include:

  • allowing users to control text size via browser settings
  • easy-to-read font
  • alt tags for images
  • consistent navigation features on all pages ensuring you can easily find your way around the site
  • Cascading style sheets are used for visual layout. If your browser does not support stylesheets the pages will still be readable
  • Links are written to make sense when they are out of context

 

Access keys

We do not use access keys on our site as these can override screen reader shortcuts.

Recommended browser IE8 or above

Font size

Use your web browser text re-size option to select your preferred font size

Interactive mapping

Due to the graphically intensive nature of our interactive mapping application, this information currently cannot be presented in a fully accessible format.

Printing

Printing from the website is set up so that if you are using IE8 or above, when you print a page it will not include menus or sidebars.

Screen resolution

The site is best viewed at a resolution of 1024 x 768, but has a responsive design and will attempt to display in a useable fashion on various sizes of display.

User settings

You can customise the appearance of the website to improve the readability using the settings for accessibility page. This requires the use of a 'cookie' to be placed on your PC to retain these settings for future use.
