Plan your adventure on the New Forest Tour this summerPUBLISHED ON: 22 JUNE 2016
Operated by MoreBus in partnership with the New Forest National Park Authority, last year nearly 36,000 passengers hopped on the open-top double deckers.
The Tour offers an audio commentary about the area’s culture and history, as well as discounts at attractions such as the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, Exbury Gardens and New Forest Wildlife Park.
The New Forest Tour is a key part of the Authority’s aim to encourage more people to leave their cars at home, and is sponsored by local businesses such as New Forest Cottages.
The tour stops at local cycle hire centres within the forest, with each tour able to carry up to four bikes, giving access to the 100 miles of waymarked cycle tracks and quiet lanes available.
Covering the length and breadth of the National Park the three scenic routes saved around 187,000 private car miles last year. It also provides a boost to local businesses, contributing an estimated £562,000 to the New Forest economy whilst stopping at local villages and attractions.
Mark Holroyd, Transport and Tourism Manager at the New Forest National Park Authority, said: ‘The New Forest Tour was a great success last year, and I’m sure it will be another wonderful summer. As well as being a great experience, the Tour also helps protect the National Park’s unique landscapes by reducing congestion and carbon emissions.’
Andrew Wickham, Managing Director of MoreBus, said: ‘We’re delighted that the New Forest Tour continues to grow from strength to strength. Its three routes offer the best views of the National Park, linking countryside and coast, communities and attractions.’
To help visitors to make the most of their day out, the popular New Forest Travel Concierge will be returning to Brockenhurst Train Station for the duration of the Tour season. Offering bespoke advice and information on the many attractions and activities in the Forest, the Travel Concierge can help plan the perfect trip.
As a new addition for 2016, family groups will receive a complimentary New Forest Tour Spotters Guide to keep the kids busy while searching for the many wonderful New Forest sights as they travel.
The New Forest Tour runs from June 25 to 11 September 2016. Tickets can also be bought on board the bus, from the Lyndhurst Visitor Information Centre or the New Forest Travel Concierge at Brockenhurst Station.
