Strategic Environmental Planning Officer
(Please note, this job is not with the New Forest National Park Authority)
The Partnership for South Hampshire (PfSH) is looking for a driven and ambitious strategic planner to oversee the creation of a strategic environmental plan for the region as a practical way forward to the issue of nutrient neutrality currently affecting South Hampshire Local Authorities.
PfSH is a public sector partnership, working on behalf of 11 local authorities in conjunction with the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) across the Solent area. This is a PfSH role hosted and managed by Fareham Borough Council.
Your role as a Strategic Environmental Planning Officer will focus on finding resolutions to the nutrient neutrality issues for PfSH authorities by establishing a pilot sub-regional mitigation scheme.
Your role will involve taking the lead on the establishment and implementation of the pilot project, ensuring that deadlines are met and engaging with senior managers within PfSH, as well as having significant liaison with key partners and relevant external bodies. You will be able to articulate to internal and external audiences the challenges around nutrient neutrality, why and how the pilot scheme will work and also the additional environmental benefits that the pilot project may bring, if rolled out more widely and into the medium-long term.
You will be an effective negotiator and enjoy working in a team environment. The ability to manage competing demands on your time and your workload will be key to success in this role.
This is your opportunity to play your part in shaping the future of environmental mitigation in south Hampshire – so we’ll welcome your fresh ideas and innovative spirit.
The successful candidate will be required to have a presence in the Fareham Borough Council Offices, and at selected meetings within South Hampshire, as appropriate.
To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter explaining why you’d be a good fit for the role to planningjobs@fareham.gov.uk
