Assistant Community Archaeologist
We have an exciting opportunity to help coordinate and deliver our work in relation to the archaeology and heritage of the New Forest. This will involve field surveys, research and the delivery of practical activities.
You will assist with the final phase of the ‘Rediscovering our Archaeological Heritage’ and ‘Heritage on my Doorstep’ projects as part of the Our Past Our Future Landscape Partnership Scheme. You will also assist in the delivery of our statutory planning related work and the delivery of Service Level Agreements for Forestry England and New Forest District Council and other activities as the need arises.
This will involve liaison with a range of specialist officers of the New Forest National Park and other key partners. You will also work with community groups, members of the public, land owners and land managers and help to coordinate and oversee volunteers in the field.
We are looking for a well-organised and resourceful individual who has an interest in the heritage and archaeology of the New Forest. You will be at ease communicating with a wide range of people and communities and your experience of working with volunteers will help you to enthuse and encourage local groups and individuals to be involved in the project.
