Wild New Forest – a celebration of New Forest wildlife
'2020 species in 2020' challenge
This event forms part of the 'New Forest Awakening Festival' during February 2021.
Join Russell Wynn and Marcus Ward of Wild New Forest on a virtual wildlife tour through the seasons, celebrating the fantastic diversity of habitats and species within the New Forest National Park.
The talk will be held online using Zoom, and features the Wild New Forest ‘2020 in 2020’ challenge – an attempt to see 2020 species in the New Forest during 2020.
Both Russell and Marcus walked about 1,700 km over the course of the year, equivalent to trekking from Land’s End to John O’Groats! Their final species total included nearly 200 birds, 600 moths and butterflies, 500 plants and trees, and 250 fungi.
The talk will be about 60 minutes, followed afterwards by Q&A.
Find out if they reached their goal, and share their experiences of a challenging but highly rewarding New Forest wildlife year!
Participants will need to download the free Zoom app on their computer or mobile to register and join the talk.
