A Talk and Walk at New Park, Brockenhurst
Usually inaccessible to the general public, this is a unique opportunity to explore the grounds of New Park.
New Park, Brockenhurst is currently home to Long Meadow Campsite, New Park Manor Hotel and the New Forest and Hampshire County Show. Join us on Saturday 16th October between 10am and 12pm for a fascinating insight into the physical and natural history of the 230-acre site in Brockenhurst.
Meet your group at 10am for tea and coffee at New Park Manor Hotel where you will be welcomed by local archivist and historian Nick Saunders. Nick will give a 30-minute talk, providing you with a fascinating insight into the history of New Park which has been an integral part of the New Forest for many hundreds of years.
From New Park Manor Hotel, you will taken on a 60 minute guided walk around the 230 acre New Park estate. Guided by Paul Brockman BEM OF Woodlander Coppice, you will find out about the diverse natural history of New Park and discover how its natural resources have been used throughout history including why coppicing, charcoal burning and sphagnum moss gathering was so important to the local community.
