The landscape of the New Forest National Park is beautiful, rare and fragile.

It is a mosaic of ancient and ornamental woodland, open heather-covered heaths, rivers and valley mires, a coastline of mudflats and saltmarshes, and pretty, historic villages.

Lowland heath once covered much of southern England but the New Forest National Park is now the largest area that remains.

It is a landscape shaped by man, by history and by the animals that still graze it today.
