Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and New Forest National Park Minerals and Waste Core Strategy
The Core Strategy was submitted to the Secretary of State on 31 May 2006, with an addendum incorporating the Wiltshire area of the National Park submitted in October 2006.
A Public Examination into the Strategy was held in Winchester between January and March 2007 by the Planning Inspector Mr Stephen J Pratt. The Inspector’s report (300 KB) was received on 29 May 2007 and concluded that the Core Strategy is sound, subject to a number of amendments as set out in the accompanying Schedule of Changes (134 KB)
The four Minerals and Waste Planning Authorities subsequently adopted the Core Strategy, as amended by the Planning Inspector, in June and July 2007. The National Park Authority resolved to adopt the Core Strategy at an Authority meeting on 28 June 2007 (see Authority report 192/07 (134 KB)
The adopted Core Strategy now supersedes most of the policies in the Hampshire, Portsmouth and Southampton Minerals and Waste Local Plan (1998) and most of those in the Wiltshire and Swindon Minerals Local Plan (2001) and Waste Local Plan (2005). Some site specific policies have been retained until the Minerals Plan and Waste Plan are adopted.
Associated British Ports (ABP) have successfully applied to the High Court to have parts of the Core Strategy ‘quashed’. The details of the challenge are shown in the judgment (183 KB) and a subsequent order (894 KB)was made that policies S13, S14 and DC18 and consequential references are deleted.
