Subsidised courses in traditional building skills
Traditional building skills flyer (2 MB)
The Authority has been successful in its application for funding from the New Forest RDPE (Leader) programme to deliver a project which will offer subsidised training for small businesses in the New Forest who have fewer than 10 employees in a range of traditional building conservation skills.
Courses available in:
- Repairs to timber-frame buildings
- Cob walling
- Using lime plaster and render
This project will help local building companies and architects to develop their skills in traditional building craft, resulting in historic buildings which are well restored and preserved for future generations. It will also enable small companies to expand their expertise and take on new areas of work.
The project will run for 2 years from October 2010 and will provide training opportunities for approximately 20-30 local businesses at a third of the usual cost and will take place at a number of local rural craft centres.
