Greener Living Show a success

There was sunshine, ice cream, cakes and a delicious array of local and organic food at the first-ever ‘Greener Living Show’ at Brockenhurst College on Sunday.

However, despite the delicious food there was a more serious message to the day. Over 800 people came to learn more about how they can make a difference by making small changes that can help the environment and the New Forest.

Visitors learned about the benefits of recycling, driving more fuel efficiently, insulating their houses and boilers, using local crafts and much, much more. There was also a variety of activities aimed at helping children learn about the environment through feet painting and a jamboree.

Amy Rawlins, Climate Change Officer at the New Forest National Park Authority, said: ‘The day was a great success; we wanted to create an event that brought local environmental businesses and people together under one roof and we created just that.

‘The response we had was good, everyone enjoyed themselves and the stallholders all commented on how interested people were in green matters.’

The event was supported by Brand New Forest and New Forest Transition.
