Top ‘Marques’ for New Forest cheese producers

The New Forest Marque is celebrating after three of its members won top prizes at the British Cheese Awards in September.

The New Forest Goat Dairy won the top accolade of ‘best fresh cheese’ for its fresh goat’s cheese with chives and also won gold for its New Forest white and bronze for its fresh goat’s cheese with honey.

Both Lyburn Farmhouse cheese makers and Loosehanger Cheeses also won a series of silver and bronze awards in a number of classes for their renowned cheeses.

Sarah Richards, New Forest Marque Manager, said: ‘We are over-the-moon that three of our cheese makers have been recognised at the top of their field. The New Forest Marque was designed to help farmers and local producers achieve the highest standards possible and it has done just that.’
