Visitors to the New Forest can feast their eyes on the very best views of the area atop the New Forest Tour which starts back this weekend (8 July).

The open-top Tour offers a panoramic perspective on wandering ponies, picturesque villages and vibrant purple heathland.

Operated by MoreBus in partnership with the New Forest National Park Authority, last year nearly 40,000 passengers hopped on the ever-popular double deckers.

Covering the length and breadth of the National Park, the three scenic routes saved around 187,000 private car miles last year. The Tour also provides a boost to local businesses, contributing an estimated £644,000 to the New Forest economy while stopping at local villages and attractions.

As well as great views, the Tour is the easiest way to learn more about the Forest. Passengers can sit back and enjoy an audio commentary about the area’s culture and history, as well as discounts at attractions such as the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, Exbury Gardens and New Forest Wildlife Park.

This year, there is more incentive than ever to hop on board the Tour, with the first 500 ticket buyers in with a chance of winning great prizes. Just buy a Tour ticket from the New Forest Travel Concierge, who will be offering travel information all summer at the New Forest Centre in Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst Railway Station.

The New Forest Tour is a key part of the Authority’s aim to encourage more people to leave their cars at home, and is sponsored by local businesses such as Beaulieu Motor Museum, New Forest Wildlife Park, New Forest Cottages, Ringwood Brewery and Shorefield Country Park.

The Tour stops at local cycle hire centres within the Forest, with each Tour able to carry up to four bikes, giving access to the area’s quiet country lanes and 100 miles of waymarked cycle tracks.

Andrew Wickham, Managing Director of MoreBus, said: ‘This is an area of incredible beauty - and it is also rich in diverse wildlife. We are pleased to be working in partnership with the New Forest National Park Authority to highlight everything there is to enjoy here - from the spectacular landscape to the exceptional local businesses and services.

‘The New Forest Tour offers local people and visitors an excellent opportunity to opt for sustainable transport and discover for themselves the many delights of the National Park and its surroundings. Not only is it a wonderful way to explore the area, it’s better for the environment too.’

Mark Holroyd, Transport, Access and Sustainable Tourism Manager at the New Forest National Park Authority, said: ‘The New Forest Tour was a great success last year, and I’m sure it will be another wonderful summer. This year our staff will be on hand every day at both Brockenhurst Railway Station and the New Forest Centre in Lyndhurst to help everyone make the most of their day on the Tour, as well as providing inspiration for the best walks and bike rides.’

The New Forest Tour runs from 8 July to 10 September 2017. Tickets can also be bought in person on board the bus of from the New Forest Travel Concierge at the New Forest Centre in Lyndhurst or Brockenhurst Railway Station.
