The regular competition attracted over 2,200 votes across more than 160 photos between 20 July and 3 August, with entrants hoping to inspire people to share the joy of summer in the New Forest.

Photographers submitted their summertime photos of the New Forest on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram and a winner was chosen by a judging panel. Three winners were also chosen by a public vote on the National Park Authority’s Facebook page. The winners are:

  • Judges’ Pick – Nick May, pony at Hatchet Pond near Beaulieu (below)
  • Charmaine Mactaggart, pony near Setley Pond, Brockenhurst
  • Sandy Bemister, ponies at Whitten Pond near Burley
  • Daniel Brown, butterfly at Deadman Hill near Godshill

Barry Rickman, New Forest National Park Authority member, said: ‘Nick May’s photo is a worthy Judges’ Pick, showing a fine New Forest pony at Hatchet Pond. The competition vote winner by Charmaine Mactaggart is also impressive, perfectly capturing hazy summer days in the New Forest.

‘I’m pleased that the competition continues to be popular among keen photographers and the standard of the entries remains high this summer. I hope all the winners enjoy their prizes and I commend all the entrants for taking the time to celebrate the National Park with their photos.’
