New location for Christmas fair

Christmas fair 2013

Published Wednesday 26 November 2014

The New Forest Christmas Fair will now be held at Hoburne Bashley holiday park near New Milton on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December.

Getting to the Fair

  1. The easiest way to get to the Fair is to come by bicycle, train, bus or on foot – and those who do will get a free hot drink!
  2. Free park and ride is available from Ballards School (every hour from 11am both days), Bashley Football Club (every hour from 11am Sunday only) and New Milton train station (every two hours from 11.30am both days)
  3. Parking on site is available, including for blue badge holders, but is not unlimited – so please consider the options above first.

The location has been changed to ensure that the popular free fair, which attracted over 10,000 visitors last year at New Park, Brockenhurst, can take place even if the weather is wet - thanks to all-weather parking on site.

The fair remains full of attractions for all ages, with Santa’s wagon rides, tasty hot food and drink and over 90 stalls selling locally produced seasonal gifts for visitors to enjoy.

Those arriving by bus, train, bicycle or on foot can also claim a free hot drink on entry.

The New Forest Christmas Fair is organised by the New Forest Marque, New Forest National Park Authority and the New Forest Show. The Marque promotes authentic New Forest fare of the highest quality, and many of its members will have stalls at the fair.

Visitors to the fair can enjoy children’s activities and Woodfalls brass band playing Christmas tunes, with no charge for entry and gates open between 10am and 4pm each day.

In addition, the move to Hoburne Bashley means there will be a winter storyteller, marshmallow toasting in the woods and a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk at 4pm on Sunday.

Sarah Hunt, New Forest Marque manager and fair co-ordinator, said: ‘We’ve taken the decision to move the fair to Hoburne Bashley as we think it gives it the best chance of going ahead, whatever the weather, and provides even more attractions for visitors.

‘As well as the extra children’s activities and all-weather parking, the new location is suitable for dogs on leads, and has a cash machine on site.

‘We know how much people enjoy kicking off their festive period by supporting local producers at the fair, and moving to Hoburne Bashley will help us ensure that the New Forest’s most popular free Christmas fair continues to go from strength to strength.’
