The Seasonal Snaps photo competition is back for its autumn edition, inviting people to submit their autumnal photos of the New Forest on Facebook or Twitter for a chance to win great prizes.

The contest (enter here), run by the New Forest National Park Authority, aims to highlight the natural beauty of the Forest and encourage people to treasure the area. Entries can be submitted from 6 to 20 November 2014 and anyone can enter, with entries welcomed from anyone from professional photographers to smartphone-wielding amateurs.

Photos should capture autumn in the Forest, and a winning image could be a misty landscape view, an arty shot of fiery foliage, or a snap of the Forest’s free-roaming animals while out on an autumn stroll.

The winners will be chosen by a public vote, which will be open throughout the competition on the National Park Authority’s Facebook page. The results will be announced on 21 November and the four people with the most popular entries will win one of several exciting prizes, kindly donated by businesses:

  • A picnic day (including hamper) in Herbie the VW Beetle from New Forest Camper Hire ( Valid for six months
  • Family ticket to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu ( Valid until March 2016.

Barry Rickman, New Forest National Park Authority member, said: ‘Crisp clear days and the Forest’s golden foliage make this a great time to get out and about in the National Park. This competition is seeking to harness the power of social media to encourage people to celebrate the beauty of the New Forest in autumn and encourage others to protect and cherish the area.

‘I wish all the entrants the best of luck and I hope they enjoy photographing the unique landscape of the National Park.’

Entering the competition takes only a couple of minutes and the process is very simple:

  • Upload your picture to the Facebook page, or tweet a picture to @newforestnpa with a caption and #seasonalsnaps.
