The New Forest National Park Authority is looking for your views on a draft supplementary planning document.

The New Forest National Park Authority is looking for your views on a draft supplementary planning document setting out the required standards for new developments in the New Forest National Park. A six week consultation begins on Friday 1 June.

The draft document supplements existing planning policies in the New Forest National Park Authority’s Core Strategy (2010). It provides more detailed guidance on areas such as requirements for car parking and cycling provision associated with new housing development, ensuring that new development meets sustainable construction standards and requirements for public open space provision.

It also provides additional guidance on the Authority’s affordable housing requirements and the consideration of development close to protected New Forest habitats - two issues that are particularly important in the context of planning in the New Forest National Park.

Pat Wyeth, Chair of the Planning and Development Control Committee at the New Forest National Park Authority, said: ‘The Authority has worked closely with key partners including Natural England and the National Trust in the production of this draft document and we welcome people’s feedback. We hope this document will provide further clarity for planning applicants and local communities considering new development.’

Following the six week consultation the Authority will consider comments received. The final document will be presented to the National Park Authority meeting on the 27 September 2012.

The draft document can be viewed at www.newforestnpa.gov.uk/consultations or visit the New Forest National Park Authority headquarters at Lymington Town Hall.

Please email your comments to policy@newforestnpa.gov.uk or send them to Policy Team, New Forest National Park Authority, Lymington Town Hall, Avenue Road, Lymington SO41 9ZG by 5pmon Friday 13 July 2012.
