Capture autumn in the forest with your seasonal snaps

The New Forest National Park Authority has launched a photography competition with a difference, inviting people to tweet their autumnal photos of the forest for a chance to win one of three prizes.

The Seasonal Snaps competition runs from 5 to 26 November and is open to all, with entries welcomed from anyone from professional photographers to smartphone-wielding amateurs. The top three will be announced on 27 November and they will each have their entry displayed on the Authority’s website as well as winning one of three incredible prizes, kindly donated by local businesses:

  • A three-course lunch for two people at the five star Chewton Glen Hotel, New Milton (

  • Beaulieu River kayak trip for two people courtesy of New Forest Activities, Beaulieu ( To be redeemed before Easter 2014.

The competition is seeking to harness the power of social media to encourage photography within the New Forest, whether it involves a high-tech camera or an everyday camera phone. Pictures must capture autumn/winter in the forest and credit will be given for picture composition, humour or personal significance.

Entering the competition takes only a couple of minutes and the process is very simple:

  • Tweet @newforestnpa with your snap, a caption and #seasonalsnaps

New Forest Activities Director Richard Pearsall said: ‘It’s great to support photography in the national park and I am especially pleased that there is now a great way to share the best shots online. I look forward to seeing some great photos and meeting the winners on their kayak trip.’

Hire a Twizy Project Co-ordinator Kate Eveleigh said: ‘We are delighted to support photography in this stunning natural area we live in, good luck to all those who enter! We can’t wait to welcome the winner to their Twizy adventure day.’

Terms and conditions:

  • Photographs must have been taken within the New Forest National Park by the person submitting

  • Multiple entries per-person are allowed

  • Photos must be submitted by Twitter to @newforestnpa and include #seasonalsnaps

  • Competition not open to National Park Authority staff or their relations

  • Photos can have been taken any time and with any type of camera or phone

  • Entrants must follow @newforestnpa on twitter and ‘like’ New Forest National Park Authority on Facebook to be eligible to win

  • Entrants agree to their photo being pinned to the Seasonal Snaps board on Pinterest.
