The natural beauty and special qualities of the New Forest National Park will be showcased in an ITV documentary tonight with Caroline Quentin.

In the third and final episode of her series looking at Britain's National Parks, the actress and presenter takes a hot air balloon ride over some of the New Forest's ancient woods, open heaths and beautiful coastline.

She also forages for mushrooms, visits the Romsey Agricultural Show, works with a tree surgeon and meets the paraglider with his dog as a co-pilot.

Caroline also meets Agister Rob Maton as he helps catch a four month old foal and its mother to be sold at the New Forest pony auction.

Caroline said: 'Watching the ponies being bought and sold here in the New Forest has made me realise how important it is that our National Parks don’t become museums or zoos, that they remain places we can use and benefit from and treasure.'

The programme is broadcast on ITV tonight at 8pm.
