Consultation on draft Local Enforcement Plan

Published Wednesday 27 February 2013

Your views are wanted on a draft Local Enforcement Plan by the New Forest National Park Authority.

The draft plan sets out the Authority’s policies and procedures for enforcing planning control in the New Forest National Park.

In particular, the draft plan sets out the enforcement powers of the National Park Authority, how to resolve breaches in planning control, and the most common type of breaches experienced by the Authority.

Pat Wyeth, Chairman of the New Forest National Park Authority’s Planning Committee, said: ‘Enforcement is an important means of maintaining public confidence in the planning system.

‘The New Forest is a national park and its character and landscape are of the highest importance. In an average year, the Authority will be asked to investigate approximately 400 reported cases of alleged breaches in planning control.

‘This draft plan outlines the important steps the Authority takes to tackle breaches in planning control to ensure public confidence.’

The draft Local Enforcement Plan, with any changes made as a result of the consultation, is due to go to the full National Park Authority meeting on 27 June 2013 for formal adoption.

The consultation period is from 9am Monday 4 March to 5pm Friday 12 April 2013.
