Success at Pony Sales

Young commoners scooped the prizes at the annual pre-sale foal show at the Beaulieu road pony sales last week.

New Forest National Park Chief Executive Alison Barnes presented the prizes with Olympic dressage trainer Claire Moir.

Organised by the New Forest pony publicity group, the show was a perfect opportunity for breeders to show off their stock and realise the best possible prices.

The sun kindly shone and warmed up both owners and the many spectators that had gathered to watch proceedings including buyers from France and Ireland.

James Gerrelli of Pilley took the championship with his home bred filly Blakeswater Serenade by Mudeford Sovereign who made a well-deserved 400gns in the sale ring.

Reserve champion went to young commoner Amy Howells from Norley wood with her well-grown colt Ramnor Harry Houdini by Applewitch Pure Magic who sold for 380gns to Normandy, France.

As an added extra James Gerrelli was also the first person to be awarded the Mopley cup a trophy kindly donated by Sheila Baker.
